Professional Book Publishing

Writing a book is challenging for many people, but publishing, along with all its facets (distribution, printing, marketing, etc.), can be overwhelming, especially for first-timers. This is why many authors opt to get help with book publishing rather than taking it on by themselves. There are certainly benefits to getting professional help, including saving time and eliminating potentially embarrassing mistakes. These are the main three publishing options for those writers or authors seeking to have their books published with professional support:

Conventional Publishing

In conventional or traditional publishing, authors must get a book publishing deal on their own or find a literary agent to represent them to publishing companies. The agent must pitch (try to sell) a book publishing company, and in return for successfully getting an author's publishing deal, the agent will earn part of the royalty payment to the author. These publishers and agents are highly selective, only choosing manuscripts that they feel are highly marketable.  If a writer's book or book idea is selected by a conventional publisher, an advance is often paid to secure the deal.

Subsidy Publishing

In subsidy publishing, also called “vanity publishing,” the authors pay to get their work published. In doing so, the authors typically get design, distribution and printing services done. This arrangement may vary slightly depending on the company. These companies appear to be conventional publishers because they assign ISBNs and place their logo on the books. This, however, means that the company owns the distribution and printing rights. The authors get royalties averaging 20%, and there is no advance. There is no selection process; all books are accepted unless there is a genre (e.g. romance, inspirational) restriction.

Self-Publishing

In self-publishing, authors retain creative control and ownership of their book, but they must also be very knowledgeable about the entire publishing process. They control and must pay for the entire publishing process. Some self-publishers will opt to do everything themselves, incluidng design and layout work, but others will opt to hire freelancers to fulfill the publishing services. Self-published books are often restrcited from some distribution channels like libraries and bookstores.

What We Do

We produce books for writers, providing creative, editorial and basic marketing services. In other words, we help authors to package (edit, design, etc.) and publish their books with the main focus on writing and editing. We (Book Writing Pros) are NOT book publishers, so the author keeps all the profits once a book sale is made. This means authors must have a publisher or have their own publishing company established.

This chart shows a breakdown of the standard book publishing options.
